Cosmiques Hut: New season and management

Saturday 18 March 2023, after several weeks of waiting, the Cosmiques refuge nestled at an altitude of 3.613 meters finally open its doors to the mountaineers.

The hut has seen its start for the season delayed by a major administrative change.

New organization for the hut

Before this spring, the building, owned by the municipality, was the subject of a public service delegation. From now on, the refuge is operated via a leasing contract, which induces the management of major investments by the municipality.

Still granted to the Compagnie des guides for seven years, the new concession has led to the creation of a company totally dedicated to the operation of the Cosmiques hut and the small Charpoua hut. Thus, the hut keepers of the two establishments are now salaried.

The hut will remain open until September 2023

According to Le Dauphine, is a new organization that hut keeper Mélanie Marcuzzi is gradually discovering. Mélanie faced a lot of changes, since Noé Vérité, her partner with whom she shared the management of the hut, has stopped his cosmic adventure for other personal projects. Anna Bernicot, already an employee of the hut last year, replaces him. A female duo therefore now controls the Cosmiques refuge.

Mélanie Marcuzzi announced “There is a moment of inertia when we reopen the hut. When it is heated, adjoining pockets of water thaw and we can have plenty of water, but at the moment we are still very limited”. She calls on her clients to be sparing. But very quickly, the refuge will be able to operate normally and will remain open until September.

Reservations are organized in two phases:

For any reservation until 30 April, contact the hut keepers by phone or send them an email.
For reservations for the months between May and September, the hut will open reservations at the end of April.
