Chamonix: balance of the forest affected by the storm
Between 6000 to 7000 cubic meters of fallen trees: this is the total damage caused by the storm of April 28th 2012, at Chamonix (from Tines to Les Bossons).
The Blaitière Forest (on the left side of the cables of the Aiguille du Midi cable car) was particularly affected. Trees have fallen by hundreds...they have rolled and have taken everything in front.
Unfortunately, this natural phenomenon, can cause another natural phenomenon, the avalanches.
