Chamonix: Landing is prohibited for paragliding flight at Bois du Bouchet until 27th Sept 2017

The mayor of Chamonix, Eric Fournier, has issued a municipal order on Wednesday 13th September 2017 stating that "The landing of the paragliding flight is prohibited on the usual paragliding area of Bois du Bouchet (land parcel G686) from Monday 18th September 18 at 1:00 pm to Wednesday 27th September 2017".

"During this period, the landing is permitted on the area usually reserved for hang-gliders (land parcel G717) in Bois du Bouchet".

"This order should be notified to the President of Paragliding Club, the President of the Hang Gliding Club, the Director of the Sports Club and the Director of the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc. This order should be displayed by them at the appropriate places (the take-off area, the landing area and the ski lifts)".

According to Le Dauphine, the paragliders no longer can land on the landing area of Bois du Bouchet, where barriers already delimit the arena that will host the fights of the cows and where now the teams of the event organization are busy preparing the site.

The program for the International Cow Battle of the Espace Mont-Blanc

From Saturday 23rd to Sunday 24th September 2017:

• Parade of the cows in the town center, evening with the farmers on 23rd September 2017;
• Fighting in the Bois du Bouchet arena on 24th September 2017;
• The market of the artisans and producers on 23rd and 24th September 2017.

The "International Cow Battle" of Espace Mont-Blanc or "Combat des Reines" is a traditional rural event where farmers send their top cows to nudge each other around in a field, to stake their claim as top dog cow of the competition.

Come at Bois du Bouchet arena to enjoy this unique alpine event!
