Skicross: Jonas Devouassoux has decided to end his career
According to Le Dauphine, the Chamoniard Jonas Devouassoux (28) decided to end his skicross career.
Rankings:
- 2017: 10th place twice in Feldberg (GER);
- 2017: 11th place at Idre Fjall (SWE) in World Cup;
- 2016: 10th place at Innichen (ITA);
- 2016: 2nd place at Matafon (AUS);
- 2016: 8th place at the World Cup in Val Thorens (FRA);
- 2016: third step of the podium at World Cup in Watles (ITA) and 4th at Val Tho;
- 2015: 6th place at the World Championships in Kreischberg (AUT);
- 2014: 10th place at the Sochi Olympics (RUS).
Member of the French team since 2010, he signed his first victory in 2014 in Nakiska (CAN).
"I was scared and I didn't want to ski anymore"
Close to be qualified for PyeongChang this winter, he still admits of beeing scared. In a risky sport, it's a very strong signal.
"This winter, it was very difficult to get over fear. Despite all the positive things I saw, I was scared and I didn't want to ski anymore. This is the moment, it is better to stop" said Jonas Devouassoux.
End of career also for Vincent Descombes Sevoie
We remind you that two weeks ago, Vincent Descombes Sevoie (34), the skier from the Chamonix Valley, also announced the end of his career. He now intends to devote himself to an entirely different activity, the commerce.
Descombes could ski again next year, but as an instructor this time at ESF Les Houches.
