A very busy day for the Chamonix PGHM

Monday 20 February 2023, a very busy day with several rescue operations for the gendarmes of the Chamonix High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM).


Seven rescue operations for the PGHM

The day began at 9:10 a.m. in the morning with the intervention of the gendarmes at Mont d'Arbois for a shoulder dislocation following a fall on skis. Half an hour later, the gendarmerie helicopter evacuated a roped party at Les Drus. The climbers are unharmed.

During the afternoon, two ski falls followed one another with serious consequences for the skiers, including back trauma at 1:00 p.m. at Les Grands Montets, then an ankle injury at 1:40 p.m. at Requin Refuge on the descent of the Vallée Blanche.

At 2:00 p.m., new rescue operation for an ankle trauma in ski mountaineering.

Aerial activity continued during the afternoon for the PGHM, at 4:30 p.m. an evacuation to Contamines-Montjoie of a young skier who had suffered from a dislocated shoulder.

Finally at 4:45 p.m. in Saint-Gervais, a person injured his knee with dislocation of the patella.
