*WiSBASE: Wingsuit Base Jumping is the sport of wingsuit flying. WiSBASE technique is proximity flying, which is flying close to the faces and ridges of mountains.
On 3 October 2016, a Russian wingsuiter launched from the Aiguille du Midi (3842 meters), and crashed into a building in Chamonix. You can read more about this subject in our article here.
Investigation revealed that he had failed to open his parachute. With this tragedy, Chamonix counted five deaths in 2016: after three jumps from Brévent and two from the Aiguille du Midi. A black series, that Chamonix municipality wanted to stop with an order banning for the practice of Wingsuit Base Jumping on its territory, "pending until new regulations".

According to the municipal decree, signed on 16 September 2021, by Éric Fournier the mayor of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, it is authorized the practice of paralpinism and BASE Jump in the Mont-Blanc massif as defined:

Safety Landing Sites :
Respect the opening limit zone : ban on entering less than 600m from the urban area without opened the parachute.
