The Brévent ski station is the closest to the centre of Chamonix. The hill from Chamonix centre to the bottom station is deceptively steep to walk up, especially in ski boots. The easiest way up is to catch the free bus. Also, there is parking for up to 250 cars.
There is only 1 green run up there, so the area is a little limited for complete beginners and is more orientated towards intermediate and advance skiers. At the other extreme, advanced skiers will find the Charles Bozon run from Brévent to Plan Praz very challenging.
Le Brévent is for all abilities and great for those who love the sun! A renowned black run down from Le Brévent to Planpraz "Charles Bozon" is great for good skiers with an impressive wall along one side.
In 2009, a new gondola opened from Chamonix to Brévent moving up to 3000 skiers per hour. Lines have been almost non-existent since!
Towards the end of February, Le Brévent hosts the Red Bull Extreme Skiing competition on it's steep faces. High cliff jumps add to the excitement that attracts some of the world's best "extreme" skiers.
