The annual crystal show, organized by the Mineralogy Club of the Northern Alps, will open in the Hotel Majestic on Thursday 1st November, 09hr-17hrs.
This bourse is relatively "confidential", though eagerly awaited by rock hounds of the region, because only minerals from the Alpine Arc (France, Switzerland, Italy) are on exhibit by the club members, who will be previewing their latest finds to the public.
A magnificent quartz, slightly smoky, found in the Leschaux sector by Joel Leroux, Olivier Michaud and George Moreira, will be the "highlight" of the award. In the opinion of Comte Armand, guide and crystal-hunter, who has throughout his life admired beautiful specimens, this slightly smoky quartz is the largest single crystal (55 cm) ever found & extracted in the massif.
